Pronghorns Come Back Home
The Lady Pronghorns return home with hunger in their hearts after two weeks full of road games. Their first stop was a tournament in Torrington against Trinidad State and Western Nebraska. With their sophomore setter, Fabiola Acety, still out resting her hyperextended knee, the girls had to make a huge adjustment. Although they came close with Trinidad state, they couldn't kick start momentum with Western Nebraska and took two 3-0 losses. Acety is a key leader on the floor, so without her the team seemed slightly shaken. "Everything happens for a reason!"; Acety shared this with the team to lessen the weak spirits after their first two losses of the season. She explained that "it needed to happen to show how strong we can be as a family. We know what a loss feels like now, so we need to hold onto that feeling and change our actions for a more positive play." Acety expressed that "this just means we must realize that we have to work two times harder in practice."
With less than a week to prepare for their next weekend of games, the Lady Pronghorns narrowed in on the time they did have. Although they worked hard in film and at home to be equipped for two more road games, the ladies couldn't grab the 'W' this time. Gillette's first match up with LCCC was an intense one. Going back and forth sets, the game ended 3-2. It's tough to get back on your pedestal after a few losses as the ladies couldn't pull through at Eastern Wyoming either. After winning the first set, our ladies seemed to plateau a bit. Although there were a few great performers, Gillette didn't move as one and ended 3-1.
This weekend our Lady Pronghorns will defend home court and match up with Western Wyoming and Casper. A big support will surely help our ladies defend and rise above their recent stump. Friday at 6PM Gillette will see Western Wyoming, while Saturday the Lady Pronghorns will defend against Casper at 2PM. As Gillette Volleyball dives into conference games, our communities' support will be of huge importance this October.
