Gillette College Announces Athletics Hall of Fame
The Gillette College Athletic Hall of Fame will induct its first class on October 4, 2025.
Membership
The Committee will consist of a minimum of eight members.
The initial committee will be made up of the following members:
- Gillette College President - Janell Oberlander
- Athletic Director - Janie Rayback
- Coach - Shawn Neary
- Booster Club President (or a member of the booster club board of directors appointed by the Booster Club President).
- Three booster club board members:
- Larry Smith
- Ron McGrath
- Mike Hladky
- One Faculty - Kelly Derryberry
Each member of the committee will serve for a period of 3 years.
At the conclusion of their term, members will be eligible to be reappointed by the Athletic Director to another 3-year term. If a member chooses to no longer be on the committee, the Athletic Director will appoint a member to fill any open spots.
The Athletic Director will serve as the liaison between the Athletic Department and the committee members. He/she will be responsible for accepting nominations, calling meetings and planning for receptions and installment.
Athlete Criteria
- Their induction will be based on their accomplishments while at Gillette College on the playing field/arena/court. The following criteria will be used in determining the eligibility of the nominee:

- An athlete becomes eligible for nomination to the Hall of Fame ten (10) years following his/her last year of competition at Gillette College.
- Must have had a distinguished athletic career as evidenced by individual honors, achieved in the conference, region, or at the national level, i.e. All-American, All-Conference, All-Region, etc.
- Career following attendance at Gillette College also to be considered, i.e. Olympic competition, professional career, public service, and community involvement.
- Academic standards, including undergraduate and postgraduate attainment, although not a required criterion, are a significant barometer in the selection process.
Team Criteria
- The following criteria will be factors in determining the eligibility of a team:

- A team shall become eligible for nomination to the Hall of Fame ten (10) years after competition.
- A team may be nominated for induction based on extraordinary accomplishments, i.e. Championships or postseason performance.
- The selected team will be recognized in the same fashion of individual inductees.
- National Championship teams are automatic inducted into the Gillette College Hall of Fame after the mandatory ten-year waiting period.
- The induction of a team shall not prohibit the separate induction of team members.
Coaches Criteria
- The following criteria will be factors in determining the eligibility of a coach:

- Must have won a conference, regional, or national championship as a head coach.
- Must have made positive impact toward achieving excellence in the classroom, and the field or courts on the student-athletes’ lives.
- Must have coached at least 5 consecutive years at Gillette College with the final season completed at least five (5) years prior to selection unless he/she is currently on staff. If a coach is currently on staff, he/she is eligible for nomination after ten (10) years of continuous employment as a coach at Gillette College.
- Program improvement, win-loss records, conference and national championships, contribution to the sport on a state, regional, national, or international level, and recognitions such as Coach of the Year are some qualifications.
- Any of these criteria must have occurred while coaching at Gillette College.
Contributors Criteria:
- The following criteria will be factors in determining the eligibility of a contributor:

- Must have made a significant positive impact on the Athletic Department at Gillette College as a Student-Athlete, Coach, Administrator or Volunteer.
- Can no longer be employed at Gillette College.
Special Achievement:
- This category is reserved for people with a background of athletics at Gillette College who in their post-graduate lives have gone on to achieve success in a field of endeavor which has brought credit to the Gillette College and/or served Gillette College in some exemplary manner related to athletics.

- Examples would be:
- volunteering many hours of service to the Athletic Department without pay,
- successful professional career in sports as an athlete, coach, game official, or administrator,
- league or conference commissioner,
- journalism or broadcasting, or
- an outstanding ambassador for Gillette College in some form.
- An administrator or staff member at least ten (10) years at Gillette College with the final year of employment completed at least five (5) years prior to selection unless he/she is currently on staff.
- Administrators and staff currently employed at Gillette College are eligible for nomination after twenty (20) years of continuous service in the Athletic Department.
- Administrator or staff member must have demonstrated exceptional loyalty, character, and a passion for the success of Gillette College athletics and have identifiable contributions.
