Liz Lewis returns to the helm as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach for Gillette College under the newly formed district. In her first season at Gillette College, the Pronghorns went 28-5 and finished 2nd in Region IX North. The Pronghorns finished the season ranked #21 in the Nation. Lewis also coached Gillette College’s first NJCAA First Team All-American, two All-Region IX North Conference players, one All-Region IX North Defensive Team player and three All-Region IX Tournament Team players. Off the court, the Pronghorns had four Academic All-Americans and finished with a 3.4 GPA. 

Prior to her arrival at Gillette College, Lewis spent the two previous years at NAIA Dickinson State University where she was the head women’s basketball coach and sports information director (2017-2019). 

Before Dickinson State, Lewis coached for four years at NJCAA Miles Community College. At Miles Community College, Lewis’s teams have excelled both on the court and in the classroom. In 2013-2014 the Lady Pioneers came away with NJCAA Academic Team of the Year honors boasting a 3.59 cumulative team GPA with eight Academic All-Conference players and two Academic All-Americans. Her 2014-2015 squad placed third in the nation academically with a 3.64 cumulative GPA, 11 Academic All-Conference selections, and four Academic All-Americans. Coach Lewis’s 2015-2016 squad finished sixth in the nation academically with a 3.48 team GPA, with ten Academic All-Conference players, and four Academic All-Americans. Aside from excelling in the classroom, Coach Lewis coached four Region IX All-Conference Team selections, four Region IX All-Defensive Team selections, and four Region IX All-Tournament Team selection. 

Prior to her time at Miles Community College, Coach Lewis served as an assistant coach and Sports Information Director at Montana State University-Northern (2011-2012). Lewis also served as an assistant coach at NCAA DII Central Washington University (2011-2012), and she began her collegiate coaching career serving as an assistant coach at her alma mater Rocky Mountain College from 2009-2010. 

Lewis is a 2005 graduate of Churchill County High School in Fallon, Nevada, where she was a four-sport standout athlete. Lewis lettered in volleyball, softball, soccer and basketball and received All-Conference and All-State accolades in basketball her junior and senior seasons. Lewis was also named Churchill County High School Female Athlete of the Year in 2005. 

Lewis continued her basketball career at Dixie State University (UT) where she competed for two seasons before transferring to Rocky Mountain College. While at Rocky Lewis was a two-time First Team All-Frontier Conference performer and was the recipient of the Arthur and Linda DeRosier award for Outstanding Senior Athlete. Lewis was also named team MVP and received Academic All-Conference honors both her junior and senior seasons. Lewis graduated from Rocky Mountain College with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Health, Exercise Science and holds a Master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University.
