GILLETTE, WY, April 25, 2024 - High school basketball standout Rochelle Upualofa Afo-Manuma has officially committed to Gillette College to continue her athletic and academic career. Afo-Manuma, a skilled 5'10" forward, brings a wealth of talent and experience to the Pronghorns women's basketball team.
GILLETTE, WY, April 25, 2024 - High school basketball standout Rochelle Upualofa Afo-Manuma has officially committed to Gillette College to continue her athletic and academic career. Afo-Manuma, a skilled 5'10" forward, brings a wealth of talent and experience to the Pronghorns women's basketball team.
During her time at West Jordan High School, Afo-Manuma earned multiple athletic honors, including being named All-Region MVP in 5A Region 4 and voted as a 2023-2024 UGBCA All-Star in 5A. She averaged an impressive 17.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 3.7 steals per game during her senior season.
Off the court, Afo-Manuma excelled academically, earning a spot on the High Honor Roll, and being involved in various clubs and societies, such as People of Pasifika, Student Government, and DECA.
Afo-Manuma's decision to attend Gillette College was influenced by the supportive coaching staff and the strong sense of community within the team. Afo-Manuma said, "I chose Gillette College because it felt like a place where I could really grow. The coaches and team felt like I could trust them to not only be there for me but also push me and provide me with what I need to be the best I can be. It was also really cool to see how invested and supported the team was by the community."
Rochelle is excited to major in either Business, Psychology, or General Studies while continuing to hone her basketball skills.
Coach Lewis is thrilled to have Afo-Manuma join her team and is looking forward to seeing her impact on the court and in the classroom. Lewis said, "Rochell is an outstanding student-athlete. She excels in everything she does. She was a very dominate player on her High School and AAU teams. Rochell is a very versatile athlete and comes from a high level of basketball. She will be an asset on the court, in the classroom, and in the community."
