Sharp Shooter Joins Pronghorns This Fall

GILLETTE, WY, June 23, 2023 – Gillette College women's basketball coach Liz Lewis is pleased to announce the signing of 5'6" Marija Marinkovic for the 2023-24 season. The Podgorica, Montenegro native played high school in the United States for coaches Isaiah Anderson and Julie McBride at Hoosac School in New York. She also played volleyball and ran cross country. Other teams Marija has played for in her career are Basket Kids Montenegro and Buducnost.

"We are thrilled to add Marija to our roster this season. She understands the game very well and is a fierce competitor. Marija has a great love for the game and is eager to improve each day. Her ability to shoot will be a great addition to our team." stated Coach Lewis.  

Marija is the daughter of Radmila and Darko Marinkovic. In 2021-2022 season, Marija was ranked one of the top three-point shooters in double A NEPSAC and made the All-Tournament team for the Storm King Tipoff. Earlier in her career, Marija was the two-time MVP in 2017 & 2018.

Marija plans to study a few different subjects such as: Sports Management, Journalism and Architecture while attending Gillette College.

Marija on Gillette College: " I choose Gillette Collage I want to improve myself in academics and in basketball. I know Gillette Collage has really good program and I want to show them that I can fit in it and have really nice results. But I am mostly choosing this collage because basketball and I want to help the team and I hope with hard work and team chemistry we will have good results."
