GILLETTE, WY JUNE 14, 2023- Gillette College Rodeo is pleased to announce the signing of standout barrel racing competitor, Ashlyn Goven. Ashlyn is transferring from New Mexico Junior College where she completed her freshman year. Born and raised in Gillette, her roots are deep in the community.

Daughter of Jessica and Matt Goven, Ashlyn has more than proven her competence in the rodeo arena, while also earning her spot on the WJCAC All Academic Team. Ashlyn's accomplishments include: 5x NLBRA World Championships; 6x NLBRA Reserve World Championships; 2021 NHSRA Reserve World Champion All Around; 2022 WHSRA State Champion Barrel Racer; 2022 NHSRA Top 10 in Barrel Racing and Pole Bending; and 2023 NIRA Southwest Region Top 10 Barrel Racing.

Assistant Coach Sellers stated, "Ashlyn brings a rare passion and dedication to the game. She's one of those athletes that's always seeking growth and we have no doubt that with her ability and the opportunities at Gillette College, Ashlyn will thrive on this team."

Goven will study Business while attending Gillette College.

Ashlyn is quoted saying, "Gillette College has one of the best rodeo programs in the nation; great facility, coaches, and team. I feel like the coaches here will help me exceed my max potential. I cannot wait for the 23-24 season!"
