Pronghorn Booster Club Athletes of the Month

Pronghorn Booster Club Athletes of the Month

A new tradition has emerged from the Athletic Department at Gillette College. In December of 2023, the Booster Club nominated its inaugural student-athletes of the month. The Booster Club selected Dawson Kautzman (Men's Rodeo) and Dasani Nesbit (Women's Basketball/Volleyball) as the inaugural student-athletes of the month. The monthly nominations recognize the exceptional performance of the individuals in their sport, classroom, and community.

Dawson Kautzman is an inspiring student-athlete who deserves recognition for his hard work, dedication, and leadership. He sets a perfect example of a committed athlete and student who arrives early and stays late to get the job done. Dawson is a true team player who motivates and supports his teammates, and his kind and empathetic nature makes him stand out as an exceptional individual. His impressive achievements in athletics and his remarkable qualities make him an ideal candidate for the student-athlete of the Month award.

Dawson has contributed 195 points in three events, including tie-down roping, heading, and steer wrestling, which has been instrumental in the men's team taking the lead in the region.

Dasani Nesbit is an outstanding dual-sport athlete in basketball and volleyball who excels both on and off the court. She started as a middle blocker for the volleyball team and is now a starting forward for basketball. Dasani is known for her focus, hard work, and dedication, which make her an exceptional athlete and a top-notch student.

Dasani's selflessness and willingness to help others make her an excellent representative of Gillette College Athletics. She has completed around 40 hours of community service, volunteered for youth basketball practices, and even helped coach a 6th-grade girls' travel team. In volleyball, she played in all matches and scored 169 kills during the season, ranking fourth in total kills. She led the team in solo blocks with 19 and total blocks with 71. In basketball, she has been averaging 10 points per game, is the second-highest rebounder on the team, and leads the team in total defensive boards. She is second on the team in assist per game average with three and third in steals.

"I am pleased we are recognizing our outstanding student-athletes. Both Dawson and Dasani are setting the example of what success means, which is achieved not only in their sport but also in the classroom and community. I am proud such phenomenal Pronghorns were the inaugural student-athletes of the month." said President Oberlander.

Dawson and Dasani were recognized at the monthly Booster Club meeting held in the Pronghorn Center.
